Celebrate My 25th Birthday With Me and Love is Louder!

August is my birthday month and I'll cry if I want to. No really, I will cry! ;)

It's actually pretty rad that the San Francisco Marathon took place last weekend to close out July because I have brought so much positive energy into this new month. And I am going to do all I can to ride this positive wave until I can't ride it any more. One way I'll this is launching a birthday fundraiser on Crowdrise. I've seen others do so and they've received a great response. I'm hoping for the same, too!

My project of choice is Love is Louder, benefiting the JED Foundation. My goal is $2,500! Donate here.

Throughout the years there have been too many lives lost too early due to bullying and hate. If you don't think it's such a serious problem, have a look at these facts/statistics:
  • Suicide is the third leading cause of death for teens.
  • Every year there are approximately 10 youth suicides for every 100,000 youth.
  • Every day there are approximately 11 youth suicides.
  • Every 2 hours and 11 minutes a person under the age of 25 completes suicide
  • For every suicide completion, there are between 50 and 200 attempts
  • 1 in 10 college students has considered suicide.
Sadly, I could go on and on with the facts but I'm hoping you get the hint. We need to help each other out of the darkness and depression that comes with every day life.

There was a time when the skies in my world were cloudy all day, everyday. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I finally broke through and started to see all that is good in the world. With the help of friends, music, TV shows, and hope… I began to love myself more and shared that love with others. We have to continue letting people know that they are loved, they are special, and that things do get better. Because they do! I've experienced it first hand. And I am so happy I am still alive to share my love and my stories.

So will you please join me in celebrating my birthday by helping to fund these important programs? Don't get me wrong, I do love presents and pretty things, but I love helping people more…

Your donations will help provide assistance to programs that encourage students to seek help when they need it, help students live life with a more positive state of mind, while also ensuring that students are in safe, healthy campus communities able and committed to protecting their best interests.

It sounds like a pretty good deal to me but if that isn't enough, I will be providing some fabulous incentives for donations - please stay tuned for the first!

Thank you in advance for any support whether it's a financial donation, a tweet or e-mail about this project to your network, or even a simple pat on the back. It all helps and it all means so much!

"Well you know me, I know you. We're just like everybody.
Yes, we do bend, we do break. We fall apart sometimes.
And we're not perfect , we're not right...
We're made from every colour, can you relate?
Life is safe. We're gonna need each other..." Paper Tongues

With Love,
Lolly
