Creating Happiness for Yourself

Whether it’s writer's block, trying to find a job, or hearing bad news we all struggle with our fair share of problems.

It’s always easier to find things to complain about or be sad about, but don’t you feel better when you find ways to be happy? I know I do! And that is why I wanted to share some points from an article I found on Tiny Buddah yesterday – how to cultivate happiness from within.

Control what you can, and let go of what you can’t. Instead of struggling, fighting, and beating yourself up over things that don’t flow as smoothly as you’d like, accept what you can’t control. Worrying about it won’t change it, so why waste your time spinning your wheels?

Learn to love yourself. According to the Mighty Mother of Metaphysics, Louise Hay, most (if not all) of our issues stem from the belief that we are not good enough. We’ve been berating ourselves our whole lives—of course we aren’t happy! It’s time to turn that around. Spend time with people who make you happy. Surround yourself with positive, inspiring people who you love to be around.

Pay it forward. Remember those people who have it far worse? Look out for them. Being charitable, doing your bit for humanity, going out of your way to do something for someone else—it all helps to make you feel good, as well. Not only will it help others and attract good karma in the long run, in the short term it will give you a great feeling of self-worth.

  1. My doggy makes me happy! Seeing how excited she gets when I come home, knowing I'm making her happy when we go on walks and car rides, when she lets me snuggle with her. Being with good, honest people always puts me in a good place, too.
