And Why is Anyone Opposing This Again?

*Please note that I do not discriminate against anybody's religion or beliefs. However I do have differing opinions to some and this has to do with one of them.*

A friend of my shared the following video on Facebook about Gay Marriage and I cannot stress how important or how powerful it is. Please, despite your beliefs, take 3 minutes out of your day to listen.

I want to hug this guy, seriously. Not only is he very well-spoken but he is correct in every thing he says. I'm in tears at work wishing speeches like this didn't have to be made.

To sum it up, here are a few snippets that stood out to me.

"You are telling Iowanians that some among you are second class citizens who do not have the right to marry the person you love."

"The sexual orientation of my parents has had ZERO affect on the content of my character."

"The sense of family comes from the commitment we make to each other. To work through the hard times so we can enjoy the good ones. It comes from the love that binds us. THAT is what makes a family."

Gosh, I couldn't have said that better myself. It really doesn't matter if your parents are gay or straight and here is your obvious slap in the face if you think otherwise. I don't care how much you believe that the "Bible says it's a sin" because what it comes down to in the end is LOVE. And weren't we all taught [at least I growing up as a Catholic] that God loves us all? Well, if you take away the right for two people who LOVE one another to marry because it's 'written in the Bible', then that statement can't be true.

You don't have to agree with it and you don't even have to like it. But love is love, people. LOVE IS LOVE.

  1. I think you are 100% correct. I have always found it so hard to listen to people use the Bible as a way to knock down the notion of same sex marriage.

Wasn't Jesus's whole message that we need to love one another and care for one another. Disease didn't stop Jesus from loving... so why should who we choose to love stop others from loving.

Seems backwards to me. If you are lucky enough to find your one true love, it shouldn't matter who it is. Love is love!

  2. AGREE!!! It's so frustrating. Let people live and love and back out of their business! I love this video. Great post.
